Co-developers Square Enix and Nexon explained that the game's quality wasn't reaching the standard that they thought fans deserved. Whilst there has been plenty of great news for Final Fantasyfans recently, one update that surely disappointed many is that Final Fantasy XI R is officially canceled. News on the game was still going strong in 2020, as fans still had the mobile port, called Final Fantasy XI R, to look forward to. Final Fantasy XI has continued to receive new content since its original release despite the console versions having their servers shut down in 2016.
Originally releasing in 2002, the game not only supported cross-play between PC and PS2 versions but was also the first MMORPG released for the XBOX 360. Final Fantasy XIis nothing short of a legendary MMORPG.
